Radiology Services

Associates in Medical Physics, LLC, (AMP), will supply the following services:

Make an annual survey of all diagnostic X-ray equipment in accordance with the requirements of The Joint Commission (TJC) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and various regulatory agencies. This survey is to include the following performance evaluations, safety evaluations, and output measurements:

Light beam to X-ray beam alignment

    Accuracy of beam size indicators

Overall performance of radiographic and fluoroscopic collimators

Output versus kVp, mAs, and distance

Proper function of interlocks, timers, and exposure switches

Itemized check list of equipment standards of various agencies

Perform tube performance criteria of each radiographic unit which includes survey as outlined, plus:

    Radiographic timer accuracy

    kVp accuracy

Reproducibility of kVp, time and output

    mA linearity

    Accuracy of distance indicators

    Waveform analysis and ripple function

Half-value layer determination and appropriateness of total filtration

Perform tube performance criteria of each fluoroscopic unit which includes survey as outlined, plus:

    kVp accuracy

Exposure rate vs. kVp, mA set

Exposure rate in Automatic Brightness mode through use of    appropriate phantoms.

Low contrast resolution of the imaging system

High contrast resolution of the imaging system

Half-value layer determination and appropriateness of total filtration

Evaluation of output in other imaging modes

Analyze film badge reports to assure that the personnel monitoring program meets applicable standards, assist in minimizing exposures when necessary, and review radiation safety procedures, policies, and manuals in accordance with the requirements of regulatory agencies and TJC Standard DR.2.

Monitor patient exposures for techniques and equipment. Provide a summary of measured exposures with comparable national standards in accordance with applicable State regulations and TJC standard DR.2.2.4.2.

Provide a typed report of all survey findings for use as a permanent record, in a format acceptable to regulatory agencies and to TJC  or AOA.

Give a radiological health or physics related lecture, and/or participate in a radiation safety meeting, during each annual visit, if requested to do so in advance.

Be available during normal business hours to discuss radiation safety by telephone.
